Yes you heard it right Audi has finally revealed it sporty and luxary all new Audi A7 Sportback. It showcases a sharp new exterior design with curves and neat creases, Nowadays automobile makers are finding ways to run vehicles on clean and self-sufficient energy systems with capabilities to use the system rejected energy. Hence, the Audi A7 comes with a 48V electric system, a new engines with hybrid properties for added fuel economy figures, as well as a light body made with fused steel and aluminium.

2018 Audi A7 Exteriors, Styling & Design
The new Audi A7 stays true to the first-generation model DNA launched back in 2010, but with upgraded and crisper and cleaner body lines. At the exterior it gets a five-door layout with frameless doors.
The front is equipped with the new generation Audi’s single-frame grille that is identical to that of the recent launched A8. The grill sits on the bumper with headlights with distinctive LED graphics.
Moving over to side, there are wheel arches that house Alloy Wheels as standard, heavy crease lines in the lower sections of the doors and a roofline that slopes towards the rear as in the previous generation A7.
Now At the rear, this time Audi has provided A7 with a spoiler element. Integrated into the edge of the tailgate, it sets out at speeds above 193kph to increase down force on the rear axle to increase stability at higher speeds. The feature that catches your eye is the full width tail-lights that is formed by two individual tail lights, joined by a well-lit light bar that stretches across the rear of the boot lid.
Now the new Audi A7 has undergone several changes that includes the dimensions i.e. at 4969mm in length, 1908mm in width and 1422mm in height, the new A7 is 14mm shorter, 3mm wider and 2mm higher than the previous generation. Also the wheelbase is 13mm longer than its predecessor at 2923mm.
Interiors & Features in 2018 Audi A7
The interior of the A7 Look very identical to the new-gen A8. It is equipped with a 12.3inch digital instrument display, combined with a 10.1inches Infotainment system that is integrated in the centre console of the dashboard and an 8.6inch display unit mounted at the base of the centre console – both offering standard touch control and acoustic feedback.
The touch-sensitive displays do all the major functions and provides the dashboard with a clean and organised look. Now according to Audi the gear-lever is designed to make it easy for the driver to rest their wrist on the horizontal handle bar and operate the touch operations for the air conditioning and other functions very easily without being distracted.
The new seats that are on offer are claimed to have added level of comfort, with the option available for buyers to specify multi-adjustable angles, customised shape of seats with both ventilation and massage functions. The rear can be configured with two individual seats or a two-plus-one layout as per the requirement. Despite the reduction in the length of the car, Audi claims to have increased the space on the inside of the car with an added 21mm of length within the interior that ultimately results to increased rear leg room.
The new Audi A7 comes with 535-litre of boot space and Audi says that the luggage compartment has been redesigned for improved utilisation of the storage space. The boot lid is manually operated, however buyers get can choose a foot-operated sensor for boot lid.
Other customization options include Matrix LED headlamps with laser projector units, a heads up display unit, four sound systems including a Bang & Olufsen unit offering 3D surround-sound, voice command control and remote parking pilot that autonomously manoeuvres the A7 in and out of parking spaces or a garage without the need for a driver to be behind the steering wheel.
Apart from that the new car is equipped with 39 driver assistant systems, both available as standard and optional. It includes five radar sensors, five cameras, 12 ultrasonic sensors and a laser scanner.
Engine & Performance
The second-generation A7 will come with just a single engine option. The turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine comes as standard with a new belt drive alternator, lithium ion battery and 48V electric structural design to provide it with hybrid properties.
It also uses a smart engine stop-start function that shuts down the engine at 14mph as you stop on the traffic lights. It uses a front camera to restart the car i.e. the engine is then restarted as soon as the car ahead begins to move or when the driver pushes the throttle.
The new A7 produces 335bhp and 500NM of torque. The engine is mated with a standard seven-speed S-tronic dual-clutch gearbox and the latest recapitulation of Audi’s quattro four-wheel-drive system that activates the rear wheels when it detects added traction is required.
Ride, Handling & Drivability
The new engine goes from 0-100kph in 5.3sec and has a top speed of 250kph. Audi has improved the dynamic qualities of the new A7, which can be seen by the adoption dynamic-all-wheel-steering, as Audi call it.
Below 60 kph the rear wheels steer in opposite direction to provide less turning radius and ease of manoeuvrability but above 60kph, the rear wheels steer in the same direction as those at the front, which contributes to increased straight-line stability and improves high-speed lane-change properties.
Some other changes that are done includes the suspension that has been developed from scratch and claims to offers greater levels of feedback. Buyers can choose amoung the four set-ups i.e. conventional steel springs, a sport suspension that lowers the ride height by 10mm, electronically controlled damping and a self-leveling air suspension.
We Expect Audi to bring in the new A7 to India sometime next year. Tough Audi’s new hot shot A7 has managed to up the game with new levels of technologies and immense amount of luxury but we should not overlook its competitors, The BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo and Mercedes-Benz CLS are the rival to the A7 and get a reworked chassis featuring four-wheel steering and a range of digital interior functions too, as part of an engineering overhaul.
